Taylor Swift's Fashion: Fun, Flirty, and Fearless
Taylor Swift, an icon in more ways than one, has many staples – friendship bracelets, the number 13, blonde bangs, Louboutin heels, and so on.
Spanning Swift’s career, she and her fans have created 11 eras defined by haircuts and hairstyles, colors and collaborations, seasons and vibes. But outside the eras, Swift has her own personal style that she perpetuates.
From football games, dinners with friends, or hitting the recording studio, Swifties have been fed fun, flirty, and fearless fits by Swift recently.
The night of September 21st, Swift was seen out with Gigi Hadid, styled in some of her personal staples, Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood. At a Chiefs game, September 15th, supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce, Swift styled a t-shirt dress with a Louis Vuitton crossbody bag.
Swift’s personal style is predictable but always surprising. Post-public breakup, early April 2024, Swift was seen out in bejeweled jeans, a black staple top, with an embellished bag. While many fans and speculators guessed Swift would stay in the shadows amidst this heartbreak, her fashion showed Swifties her feelings – she was okay.
At the VMA’s on September 11th in a Dior runway look, Swift owned the carpet, taking home 7 awards. An outfit some may have never expected, but once you see it on Swift, it makes complete sense. Swift’s look encompasses her current era, The Tortured Poets Department, but also encompasses her, beyond the music.
On September 8th, Swift went back to her Red roots in another one of her signature brands, Reformation. In a gingham red and white dress, Swift attended the US open with Kelce.
Swift’s fashion stays true to her, as does her mission as a musician. Swift is unapologetically herself, and her fashion is unapologetically her.
As we watch Swift grow as an artist, beginning at the ripe age of 17, her fashion sense grows with her. In early years, accessorized with boots and turquoise blue, to now leaning into warmer, mature browns, blacks, and neutrals, Swift has shown us what it’s like to grow up in more ways than one.
September 7th, in a Zimmermann sundress, Swift knows how to go back home to her roots, but as a new her. Designed with delicate, pastel flowers, Swift’s sundress feels so her, and so 2006 her all at once.
As Swifties are fed fit after fit, we continue to learn more and more about Swift beyond the music. Her outfits show us her at her most expressive outside of the lyrics.
While we venture through Swift’s eras and assign colors and themes to each, the invisible string Swift creates between fans, fashion, and herself is every color of the rainbow, sparkly and ever-so Swift.
